If my 2018 wedding season is anything like my first wedding of the year then it's going to be one amazing year. I was so excited when Samara emailed me in January looking for a photographer for her and Adam's wedding in February. When I found out that they were marrying at one of my all time favorite backdrops- Portland City Hall, I just about jumped out of my seat. I've always loved the architecture of Portland City Hall but had never had the opportunity to go inside and photograph with it's gorgeous staircase. Often times when I shoot there the building is locked since it's only open during regular business hours. It was such a treat to get to use the whole place! They have started offering weekend wedding spots making it an amazing option for a ceremony site in Portland, Maine.
And it somehow gets even better- Samara and Adam decided to do the gender reveal of their baby at the wedding as well. Love, beautiful surroundings and people, AND babies. It's an understatement to say that I felt like one lucky photographer that day. Thank you so much Samara and Adam for having me photograph your wedding. Getting to start 2018 with your special day was an amazing way to kick things off. Congratulations!!!
I have some pretty exciting news to share today! A couple of weeks ago I was approached by the editor of Real Maine Weddings magazine and asked to be featured on their blog! I was so pumped. I've always been grateful about having such an awesome publication that exclusively supports the Maine wedding industry. Of course I wanted to be featured on their blog! I was sent a list of questions that addressed both my own personal journey in photography and advice for couples planning their wedding. I was also asked to submit fifteen images for them to put with the post. I had a blast going through my archives and finding images that I feel best show what I aim for in my work- happy, fun, and real moments (and some pretty details too!). To see the full interview click on over HERE ! And as always thanks for coming along on my journey and letting me pop in and photograph yours!
I'm so happy to jump back into blogging the amazing weddings I was lucky enough to photograph in 2017! My first wedding in October was the rustic, fun, and happy wedding of Jennie and Tony! These two are the SWEETEST. Jennie owns her own day care center and made sure to incorporate the other love of her life, her students, in her wedding. It was so neat as a photographer to photograph not only Tony and Jennie's love that day, but to have all the kids there made for some meaningful photos. One of my favorites of the day is when Jennie decided to hop on the merry-go-round with them, wedding gown and all!
It was also such a treat to return to my own hometown to photograph a wedding. I grew up in East Lebanon, Maine and never knew such a gorgeous wedding venue existed there. Belgian Meadow Farms is the sweetest place with lots of rustic details, and stunning property. It's a great option to host your wedding if you are looking to create an outdoor, farm theme. You can even opt to arrive at your ceremony in a horse drawn carriage with your wedding party with you! Which is exactly what Jennie opted for. Below are some of my favorites from the day. Thank you so much Jennie and Tony for having me there! I'm so happy to know you two.
Lauren and Paul decided to get married at Lauren's family home on the coast of Maine. You can see from the pictures of the property that it was an easy choice to make. They had family and friends fly in from all of the country to celebrate their nuptials and ready to celebrate they were! When I first came to visit the property back in March things looked slightly different. Lots of snow and mud, but I was told of a gorgeous lupine field that 'fingers crossed' would be in bloom for the wedding. Well, mother nature hit the nail on the head for us and when June 24th rolled around the field was at peak and we took some of my favorite bride and groom portraits ever in them. We also recreated a picture of Lauren with her two sisters from when they used to play in the field as children. There were many highlights of the day for me including Lauren and Paul's first look, our shoot in the lupine field, their gorgeous scenery for the ceremony, and their really fun first dance that I think shows their personalities to a T. These two are just really happy and really in love and it was a high point of my summer to get to photograph their wedding. Congratulations you two! Here are some favorites from their wedding day.
