 Maine Maternity Photos

It's not often I get the chance to photograph a mama-to-be, but when I do I always leave the session so happy and excited. My friend Dana of Dana Bement Portraits is expecting a baby girl in t-21 days! She's in the home stretch! Lucky for me, Dana lives close by and we get to meet almost daily for a morning walk or just to visit and chat. It feels like every time I see her the anticipation to meet her daughter grows 10 fold. Getting to look at baby clothes, listen to possible baby names, and see her nursery come together gets me giddy. This little girl is so loved already. Dana had always dreamed of having her maternity pictures taken in the lupines and this timely little one fell right into her dream plan! We were able to sneak in a session at practically the peak of lupine season last month. We photographed on campus at the gardens and then quickly rushed over to Braeside where my favorite ever lupine patch is found. I shot there last year (here) and once again the spot didn't disappoint. The great locations combined with this gorgeous lady put hearts in my eyes. Throw in a flowing purple maternity dress and a flower crown and I'm done! The resulting photos are some of my favorites ever. Thank you Dana for giving me the chance to take them. I can't wait to meet this girl!

Maine Portrait Photographer/ Rebecca

 Orono Maine Photographer

My girl Rebecca is AMAZING! Not only is she an crazy talented photographer, she is so nice and fun and I've loved getting to work on different projects with her over the years that we've both been building our businesses. I wanted to revisit this fun spontaneous portrait session I did with her this past summer. I love shooting at Treworgy farms (most recently- here and here) and wanted to get in a session there in the sumer during their blueberry and raspberry seasons. They have a gorgeous blueberry field and a really neat green house for the raspberries, perfect spot for a photo shoot! Thank you so much Rebecca for being my guinea pig for the evening and also for the ice cream after :)

What to Wear/ Senior and Portrait sessions.

1. I want to start this post by saying that the number ONE tip for what to wear during your session is to wear clothing that represents you! All these tips will be for nothing if you don't feel like yourself in what your wearing. You are at your best when you are yourself so don't change that! Write that down and underline it twice!

2. Avoid large logos and writing on clothing. Words and large symbols are distracting and you want your session to be about you and not whatever brand your wearing.

3. Bring clothing options! An outfit change will diversify your session and give you the chance to try different looks. I think it's best to bring a mix of casual options and a more formal option. The occasions to have your pictures professionally taken aren't that many so I say make the most of it, have fun, and dress up a bit for at least part!

5. Patterns AND solids! Patterns can be really pretty and add versatility to the senior session portfolio, but make sure to bring a solid color top/dress as well.

5. Accessorize! A few accessorize can go a long way in bringing a look together. But keep it to a few so they don't distract from you, the main subject. Also, make sure they compliment the rest of your outfit and don't clash and are things you would wear normally.

6. Feel free to ask me for advice! Sometimes clients will send me phone images of what they are planning to wear and I can help coach them through what will be most photogenic.

7. Dress for the weather. When getting caught up in what looks best with what, it's important to still consider the temperature outside. You don't want to end up looking cold and uncomfortable in the photos! Bringing layers will help avoid the risk.

Bring the whole lot of it and we will put together looks that best reflect you while making for excellent photographs.

Orono, Maine Portrait Photographer/ Seraphina

Last summer I had this kooky little idea to do a session inspired by Maine and Summer and this one crazy night I had with about a billion fire flies. I was so glad to be introduced to Seraphina who was more then up for the challenge. Going through this session again made me so excited for the summer to come and the sessions it will hold for CHP! Here are a few of my favorites from Seraphina and I's session. Thanks Seraphina for modeling for me!
