Boy am I happy to share these photos! Happy to look back at my time with Kelsey and Donne and happy to remember that I'll get to work with them again on their wedding day next July! These two decided to have their engagement photos taken at the Maine Forest and Logging Museum (also known as- Leonard Mills) in Bradley Maine. Leonard Mills is a museum dedicated to the history of Maine forestry. They do many public and educational events, and I hear they also have started doing weddings there ;) ! My nephew got to visit one day while on a field trip with his summer camp and had a blast. He said that they had people manning all the different stations that demonstrated what logging was like many years ago. After my session with Kelsey and Donne I went back to visit it again before all the foliage had fallen and brought him along. He was so excited to show me around with his wealth of knowledge.
In addition to being a great educational experience Leonard Mills provides a beautiful backdrop to any kind of photography session! The volunteer organization that runs it is very generous with their property and allow photo sessions on it as long as you call ahead. So many reasons to have your photos taken here- the working mill, the covered bridge, the stream with a few bridges crossing it, the pond, and the many rustic buildings all provide great backdrops for an engagement session. Kelsey and Donne did a great job of dressing for our rustic fall theme too. I love the colors they went with! It was so nice to walk around the area photographing these two and to learn more about their story. Kelsey is a teacher and Donne is a head brewer at Geaghans. They will be making their own beer for the wedding! How cool!? The wedding will be at a family home in northern Maine that sits on a potato field. I learned that during the same time of their wedding the canola plant will be flourishing and vibrant. Kelsey had to show me a picture of the canola plant since I had no idea what it looked like. Turns out. it's a gorgeous yellow that will go great with their wedding colors. Ah! I can't wait. For now though here are some of my favorites from their engagement session. <3 Thank you so much Kelsey and Donne for having me on as your engagement and wedding photographer!
