Kate and Mason met through their church group. What I gather from their wedding service, Kate wasn't all to sure about him at first, but Mason made sure to change her mind. And now here we are! They were such a pleasant and kind couple that I felt so comfortable with them. We met at Bates college right after the couple did a private first look. I photographed them in the moments right after seeing each other and they were a breath of fresh air. The Bates College campus wasn't to shabby either! The sky was perfectly overcast making the greenery around the pond glowy and perfect. A family friend brought over a classic car for photos with the bridal party and it fit their gown and tux styles perfectly. They had a subtle nod to classic 1940's era all throughout their wedding.
After their couples portraits the rest of the bridal party met us on campus to get their photos
Then it was ceremony time! Kate and Mason opted to have their ceremony and reception at the Royal Oak Room in Lewiston Maine. It was my first time at the venue and I loved the classic look of the place. Here is Mason seeing Kate at first come down the aisle. I love that even though they had seen each other earlier in the day, the weight of that moment wasn't lost on anyone.
For family formals right after, we went outside to the front of the building where there was a giant window that reflected the downtown area in front of it. There was plenty of open shade and what light there was reflected in a great way off the sidewalk.
There were quite a few elements to their reception that I loved. The consistent black and white theme from the table settings to the dessert bar, the Maine soda, and the choreographed timing of the dances.
What made Kate and Mason's wedding evening even more unique was that they had a Contra dance caller come up to direct some contra dancing! I had never seen this from of dancing done at a wedding before and quickly realized that the style makes for really fun dance photos!
Thank you so much for having me Kate and Mason!
