And the amazing couples just keep coming to me! My name was past along to Gina from Kristin, her close friend whose wedding I photographed last August. I got to see both Gina and Harry for their engagement session last month in Portland. My first meeting with Gina though was last December when we met at Starbucks to chat about wedding ideas and how we would incorporate my photography into them. I remember her vision for her day pretty clearly, because I just kept thinking about how beautiful it sounded. I remember her talking about the french blue bridesmaid dresses, mansion by the ocean, the portraits by the water, and all the nautical details. It was amazing to see it come to life and more than live up to the expectations I had for it in my head. Gina and Harry decided to get married at the Atlantic Oceanside Hotel in Bar Harbor Maine. They have a beautiful spot by the water, plenty of space to accommodate a large wedding reception, and a gorgeous building called The Willows mansion for the bride, groom, and their friends and family to get ready in. The rooms were beautiful and I fell particularly hard for this one gathering room on the bottom floor where I photographed many of Gina's details.
Gina had 9 bridesmaids! They were all smiles all day. I love the coordinating robes they were before putting on their dresses.
While I was photographing the bride and her bridesmaids, my second shooter for the day Sara was photographing the groom and groomsmen getting ready.
The ceremony site had a beautiful view of the ocean with our formal pictures spot right nearby.
Gina hired a very talented man named Ernie Wheeler to decorate their reception room at the hotel. He designed and hung all the lights and drapes. I love how the lights came out in the pictures especially in the first dance photos you'll see below.
And then it wasn't long before I stole them away for sunset portraits. The grounds of the Atlantic Oceanside Hotel have some great spots for pictures. For family formals we had used the beach so for just the two of them we went out on the dock. The backdrop was yummy and these two were so happy.
After the speeches, toasts, and dances it was time to party! Mostly everyone got up and danced and many had some serious dance moves! Gina is a ballroom dance teacher so I wasn't surprised that those closest to her would be such great dancers.
Here's one of my favorite favorites, their make-shift limbo stick.
I'm so grateful to have worked with Gina and Harry and also with the amazing group of wedding vendors they put together!
