I always love when I get to photograph weddings at The Colony Hotel in Kennebunkport Maine. Last June I was there for Lisa and Peter's wedding and I got to go back a third time just last week for Blair and Bob's. The wedding of Ebony and Mike was definitely no exception to my amazing experiences there. These two flew in from Texas with their closest of family and friends to marry on Maine's beautiful coastline. The two discovered the Colony while exploring Kennebunkport last year. They were newly engaged and decided to stop in for a drink. They soon fell in love with the place and thought what about here!? what about Maine!? And then the idea took off! I was referred to them by the wedding planner at the Colony and I'm so glad they found me. These are two of the most gracious people that were so sweet and kind to work with. I'm so excited to share their wedding day story.
I started my day off photographing Ebony with her bridesmaids, aunt, and mother while they prepared for the day over pastries and mimosas. The excitement was contagious and grew immensely while they watched guests arriving from the windows.
After a quick moment to dry her tears after Ebony ran into her father in the hallway we went on down to the ceremony site.
A very happy moment was when Ebony's father got up with his wife during the processional to exit the ceremony. Mike's father was a groomsmen, so his mother didn't have a person to walk out with. Seeing this, in the moment, Ebony's father offered his arm to Mike's mother and he walked back out with the two ladies. Everyone cheered and it seemed to signify the union of their families even more.
Then we went out onto the putting green for family formals with the gorgeous ocean view in the background. The grounds of the Colony have many spots perfect for pictures and this is my favorite.
After formal portraits it was time to head into the reception. I caught Ebony and Mike having this quite moment before heading into the celebration.
Once they arrived to their party they went right into their first dance. They were so happy throughout the whole song.
Some people look gorgeous even while crying. Ebony is one of those people.
Then it was onto the dancing! The couple chose The Music Man as their DJ and ended up selecting every song and the order it would be played in for their wedding reception. Ebony sent him a lot of West Indian music, to get her relatives that were from their up and dancing.

I stole the couple away for a few additional portraits at sunset. I love using the view and the hotel as backdrops when shooting there. Both offer two different looks while being stunning at the same time.
I can't thank you enough Ebony and Mike. For choosing me in all your Kennebunkport Maine Wedding Photographer options, for being so kind and sweet, and for putting on such an amazing day. I love the images and am so glad to have them in my arsenal!
Also- thanks to all the other vendors that I got to work with that day. It was a pleasure!
