I'm so happy to share my first wedding of the 2016 wedding season, the wedding of the Katelyn and Mike. It was a day long affair that centered around family, fun, and very scenic locations. I started the day with Katelyn at a family home in Old Orchard Beach Maine where she and her bridesmaids were getting ready. The location they chose to get ready in was nice and bright and had very cute furniture pieces that worked as great backdrops for the small details of the day. Like this rustic coffee table that I used to photograph the rings.
While I was photographing Katelyn and her bridesmaids, my second shooter Trina captured the guys.
Katelyn and Mike decided to do a first look at Fort Williams park in Cape Elizabeth. They scouted the area prior for locations and I was so happy with the options they gave me. In the end we decided on some cliffs near a garden overlooking the ocean. Mike's reaction was awesome and I call this second image below, "Happy Groom". Just look at his face!
We then walked around a bit to get photos in front of Portland Head Light, which had just removed all the scaffolding from the outside the DAY before the wedding. A couple of my photographer friends and I were watching it carefully via people checking in there on social media. I was so happy to see that it had come down in time for their special day!
After we beat the rain and ran to our cars we drove to the ceremony at Spurwink Church in Cape Elizabeth. Spurwink Church has a tradition of placing a wedding wreath for each wedding that takes place there. Couples creates their own wreath that is placed outside the church during the ceremony.
When we got to the reception at the Purpoodock Golf Club in Cape Elizabeth, Katelyn and Mike spoiled me even more with the chance to photograph them in the RAIN. Emily Cole of the Purpoodock Club drove us around the grounds in golf carts and we would stop and shoot at different places along the way. I always keep these two clear umbrellas on hand in the case of rain. I'm was glad to finally use them!
Then it was inside for toasts, food, dancing and merriment! I loved the colors Katelyn and Mike selected for their reception. They were bright and fun and went really well with their florals from the ceremony.
Thanks Katelyn and Mike for having me! And thank you to all these awesome vendors that were brought together for their wedding.
