I met Rory and John in September of 2015 when I took their engagement pictures in Acadia. I was so glad that they later choose me to also be their wedding photographer! The couple decided to have their wedding at Josias River Farm in Cape Neddick Maine. John had found the place on Reddit while perusing the internet one evening and they both loved everything about it. Once I got there and saw it for the first time I have to say I did to! Josias River Farm is the perfect spot for an outdoor or indoor wedding. It has a beautiful ceremony site, space for a tent for an outdoor dinner, and the gorgeous barn for dancing. I started my day off meeting Rory as she was getting ready with her bridesmaids.
Rory and John decided to do a first look so that they could get a majority of their family formals taken before the ceremony. I loved John's reaction as he saw his bride for the first time!
After their first look we took a trolly around Ogunquit for bridal party photos. The driver from the Ogunquit Trolley Company knew all the best spots to hit up for scenic pictures. We went by the harbor, on the bridge, and along Marginal Way for photos.
Then it was off to the wedding site! When we got there I was introduced to a beautiful little being, Edna. Rory and John were of course, the starts of the show, but a giant supporting role was taken on my Edna, the farm's beautiful and mascot-like goat. She was so sweet and even joined in for the big bridal party group shot. Thanks Edna!
During the downtime before the ceremony I went back and forth between photographing details and shots of the bridal party waiting while guests started arriving.
Then everyone got to their places for the ceremony! I love the draping the trees surrounding the site created.
And they were married! Next up was the cocktail hour and reception. If you thought the day was already beautiful enough just look at the job The Black Tie Company did in the wedding reception tent. I was a kid in a candy shop photographing all this wedding goodness.
After cocktail hour it was time for entrances, toasts, and dinner. I love the dance Rory and John did around the whole tent before being seated. The toasts that followed were funny and sweet at the same time.
Before the last bit of daylight went away I grabbed them once more for portraits. Now that they were full into their wedding experience they seemed happy and relaxed. It made for a great moment to take then away alone.
Then it was time for dancing! Rory and John had found the band, 7 Day Weekend one night in Boston when they went out. The band happened to be playing where they were at and they happened to love them! I am now a huge fan of them as well. They were able to play a mix of the classics and more contemporary music. There was never a lull in the evening because of their amazing sound and energy. That lead singer has moves too!
Thank you so much for having me Rory and John!
