The day this year was April 12th. The day when people came out of their winter hibernation and slowly leaked into the streets. The temperature rose above 60 degrees and it was like everything and everyone all of a sudden just woke up and had to be somewhere. I saw TWO dogs being walked by people without coats down Main Street. Smoothies and sunglasses were a common accessory and the sun was just EVERYWHERE. Windows were open and signs of life sprang from every corner. Quite fittingly Derek and I took a looong walk around town and even got ice cream. Yes! It was ice cream walking weather.
We look forward to this day for three long months. January, February, and March can be a pretty dismal time here in Maine. After all the glitz and glam of the holidays wear off and theres nothing left but cold icky snow, the only thing that gets me through is the promise of a warmer day. This year that day was April 12th and I cannot wait for all the warm days ahead.
